MCASPHALT | 310 T TRUCK AND COACH MECHANIC

Status: Full-Time Position
Expected Start Date: As soon as possible
Location: Oshawa Maintenance Office: 1182 Farewell Street, Oshawa ON L1H 8B8
Reporting to: Fleet Maintenance Manager

POSITION SUMMARY

In this full-time position, you will perform preventative maintenance on all McAsphalt and Miller fleet vehicles.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a licensed Truck Mechanic.
  • 310T Interprovincial Red Seal Certification.
  • Maintain a valid membership with Skilled Trades Ontario.
  • Cummins Insite diagnostic experience with emissions DPF / DOC SYSTEMS an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Detecting and diagnosing operating problems in frames and steering mechanisms, engines, transmissions, brakes, ABS, ignition, axles, fuel systems, engine management systems, suspension systems, electrical/electronic systems, emission control systems and air conditioning/refrigeration systems.
  • Adjusting, overhauling, repairing and reassembling engines, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, differentials, brakes, drive shafts, axles, and other assemblies.
  • Using various diagnostic equipment to diagnose and isolate faults, including computer diagnostics (external and internal).
  • Keeping up to date on advances in technology and updating skills.
  • Communicating effectively with co-workers, drivers, and the maintenance manager.
  • Reading and interpreting owner/operator/manufacturer operating manuals and service specifications.
  • Wheel alignments, tire repairs, installation, and diagnosis.
  • Complete Safety Checks or Yearly MOT inspections on all units in Fleet.
  • Complete all repairs pertaining to certifications.
  • Prepare units for B620 Certifications and carry out any repairs pertaining to it.
  • Complete all work orders or paperwork pertaining to services and repairs of fleet vehicles.
  • Help train any apprentices hired to work in the shop.
  • Assist with MTO Certification of the shop.
  • Assist in Preventive Maintenance reporting and/or record keeping.
  • Help keep the shop clean and safe.
  • Help organize the shop, shop tools, parts room, and overall maintenance of shop equipment.
  • Follow all safety protocol in the shop.
  • Participate in and keep up to date on any safety training provided.
