EDUCATION:

  • A certificate or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Sciences, or in a related field (or the equivalent in work experience).
  • CRSP certification an asset

EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience in construction Health and Safety or Marine Health and Safety preferred
  • Experience in ISO Management Systems considered an asset
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and Regulations
  • Knowledge of Provincial and Federal laws and regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Base Compensation: $72,000/yr - $85,000/yr
(Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain a variety of occupational health, safety, and environmental programs on an active construction site.
  • Adhere to the Management System and track adherence appropriately.
  • Develop and implement project specific safety and environmental plans.
  • Identify and address hazards on projects by performing thorough inspections at all locations on the project.
  • Support compliance of municipal, provincial, and federal regulations.
  • Facilitate and coordinate health and safety training programs and compliance tracking.
  • Document and investigate incidents including near misses, with a focus on implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Procurement of safety supplies required for the project (PPE, Rescue equipment, First Aid supplies, etc)
  • Work in conjunction with the Project Manager and Supervisors to implement a safety based focus on projects.
  • Travel to various office locations required.
