Leaving Certificate or equivalent.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology essential
Completion of an approved course in Health Care, Nursing or Medical administration preferred

Previous Health Care Administration/ Clinical/ Nursing experience

Responsibilities:

OVERALL PURPOSE OF JOB

The Beacon Hospital MDT Coordinator reports to the CNM 3 Cancer Services, but will spend most of their time interfacing between Consultants across the spectrum of oncology, Medical Oncology, Radiation oncology as well as working closely with the clinical nurse specialists, Laboratory Staff and the Radiology Staff. The MDT Coordinator will also develop Cancer Data Collection. The MDT Coordinator will be responsible for the follow MDT Meetings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DELIVERABLES SPECIFIC TO MDT COORDINATOR

Receive all MDT referrals for all of the above meetings.
Collate all necessary clinical information for each referral. Present clinical information concisely and accurately on the MDT Planner.
Check all patient identifiers, and create MRN for new patients if needed.
Ensure that the full details of any oncology diagnosis and treatment to date are included in the information entered onto the MDT Planner. Liaise with referring clinician to ensure that we have this information.
Urgently requesting pathology slides and external imaging, if it is not urgent then this is requested by the consultants admin team.
Confirm receipt of all referrals in writing, stating that the patient’s case is listed for discussion.
Create the MDT spreadsheet with all relevant clinical and patient details, and circulate it securely to the email distribution group which includes members of the radiology and histology departments, at least 48 hours in advance of the meeting.
Ensure that the Room is booked for every MDT using the Outlook shared calendar. Facilitate remote attendees by scheduling and circulating Zoom details to all participants.
Meet all deadlines for circulating all MDTs
Create and maintain sign-in sheet for each MDT, to record meeting attendees.
Attend MDT or liaise with Nurse Specialist to ensure the recording of diagnoses and MDT management decisions.
Ensure that any outstanding items from the MDT are completed. The consultants admin team/nurses ensure the requisition of further scans and slides
Collaborate with Cancer Data Manager and MDT attendees on data and audits.
Attend Oncology Steering Committee Meeting and assist in preparation of Cancer Statistics if requested. Ensures an up to date list of all current MDTs and assigned Clinical Nurse Specialist or Liaison Nurse is maintained.
Maintains patient privacy and confidentiality of information and records at all times. Understanding of and adherence to GDPR.
Adheres to internal controls established for the department.
Performs related duties as required.
The timely identification and communication of any issues and complaints to the Nurse Manager or Clinical Co-Coordinator.
Demonstrate a confidence and competence in all hospital policies and guidelines.
