Description:

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional technical education or certification in marine mechanics, diesel engines, or related fields preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of experience working as a marine mechanic or in a similar mechanical maintenance role, preferably in a marine environment.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining marine engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and hydraulic systems. Familiarity with marine diesel engines, outboard motors, and marine electronics is desirable.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities, schedules, and work environments, with a willingness to learn new technologies and techniques in marine maintenance and repair.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspecting and Diagnosing : Perform routine inspections and diagnostic tests on marine engines, propulsion systems, electrical systems, and other mechanical components to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
  • Repair and Maintenance : Conduct repairs and maintenance tasks on marine engines, fuel systems, cooling systems, transmissions, steering systems, and other mechanical and electrical components according to manufacturer specifications and safety standards.
  • Troubleshooting : Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical problems that arise during vessel operation, including engine failures, electrical malfunctions, and propulsion system issues.
  • Installation and Upgrades : Install, repair, or upgrade marine equipment, including engines, generators, pumps, winches, and navigation systems, ensuring proper functioning and alignment.
  • Documentation : Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts used, labor hours, and service performed, to track vessel maintenance history and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Safety Compliance : Ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards, including proper handling of hazardous materials, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to safety procedures during repair and maintenance activities.
  • Team Collaboration : Coordinate with other marine technicians, engineers, and crew members to prioritize tasks, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure efficient operation of vessels and equipment.
