Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

You will be based in Auckland, but may also be required to work in Northland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay, and Canterbury. This may require the need to travel away from home or relocate.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Detect and diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in engines and vehicle components
  • Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, electrical, and electronic assemblies for inspection and repair
  • Utilize test equipment and computer assistance to diagnose and test parts for proper performance
  • Repair and replace worn, defective, or faulty parts in engines, electrical systems, tyres and wiring
  • Perform scheduled maintenance services like oil changes, lubrications, engine tune-ups, and adjustments to achieve smoother vehicle operation and compliance with regulations
  • Install electrical equipment, electronic components, and power-operated vehicle accessories while ensuring proper connections to the power supply
  • Conduct testing and adjustments on engine control systems, timing, alternators, generators, voltage regulators, and starter motors for optimal functionality
  • Issue roadworthiness certificates, perform inspections, and respond to vehicle breakdown service calls as necessary
  • May work on a range of vehicles, engines and motors, including but not limited to diesel motors, heavy vehicles and engine components
