We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Mechanical Craftsperson (Heating & Plumbing) to join our Facilities Management team at the Royal Hospital for Children & Young People based in Little France, Edinburgh. This is a permanent position working 48 hours per week. The role will be on a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, and working hours will be 0900 – 21:00. There will be participation in an out of hours on call rota, and overtime when necessary.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience as an Mechanical Craftsperson or similar role in a healthcare environment.
  • Understanding of SHTMs, PPMs, and SLAs related to Mechanical systems.
  • Competency at level 3 in theory and practice or equivalent in a relevant Mechanical discipline.
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety at Work (HASAW) requirements and risk assessment processes.
  • Knowledge of RAMS and codes of safe working.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative.
  • Organizational and time management skills.

  • The role requires the successful candidate to obtain a PVG certificate. You will not be able to start until this is in place.
