Role Detail
Salary Range: €32k-€40k pa
The KAON team is looking for a new team member who will be responsible for designing mechatronic equipment that includes robotic integration, servos, and pneumatics.
This position is an entry level position, ideal for recent graduates or individuals with less than 2 years of experience who are looking for a change in career direction. The role is perfect for an engineer who is interested in machinery design, enjoys solving complex design challenges with logical thinking, and is willing to get hands-on with their designs to ensure they work as intended.
As part of the team, your primary responsibility will be to design parts using Solidworks, arranging their manufacture, and ensuring their functionality. You should be eager to learn about complex mechanisms and use this gained knowledge to solve design challenges in a unique way.

EDUCATIONAL, EXPERIENCE AND LOCATION:
Educated to degree level in a mechanical engineering
Up to 2 years’ experience in an engineering role would be desirable however is not a requirement
Ability to take responsibility to ensure all project stakeholders are up to date with work progress daily
Legally able to work in Ireland
Willingness to live near Sligo as role is office based
Current driving licence and able to travel as require
Responsibilities:
Design
Design of Mechatronic equipment after design concept acceptance, within planned timelines, adhering to quality standards
Design of Machine frame guarding elements
Design of Sheet metal brackets and tooled components
Help and Support Senior Design Engineers
Develop part detail drawings and interface with suppliers to get quotations where required
Create General assembly drawings
Ensure accurate bills of materials are developed on all assigned projects
Work within standard operating practices always ensuring adherence to procedures
Supporting role to assist lead engineers
Ensure standard operating procedures are adhered to
Complete project checklists and required internal KAON documents to ensure that project phase exits are completed correctly.
Procurement
Brief supplier on requirements and get quotations that ensure quality, value and project timelines are achieved
Follow-up on order progress
Develop an understanding of supplier techniques and manufacturing processes
Build
Develop Build Packs and brief build team
Communicate clearly with machine build technicians to ensure machine builds take place accurately and efficiently
Proactively address potential design or supply issues affecting projects by providing information and recommendations in a timely fashion to minimise project impacts
Update drawings / drafts
Develop “as built” drawings ensuring that customer drawings reflect as built at project completion
Take ownership of open issue lists and resolve design issues.
