The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team based in Auckland. You will be responsible for converting and delivering design briefs as supplied into design details and working drawings for our mining clients, commercial laboratories, and research institutions. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who wishes the further their career by working for a fast paced, market leading, robotics and automation company.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Use SolidWorks to convert design briefs into design details and working drawings accurately;
  • Produce and maintain effective records and documentation.
  • Use knowledge of electrical control systems (including applications for PLCs, HMIs, Servos, VFDs, Robotics and Vision) to inform mechanical design;
  • Set up and test mechanical and pneumatic systems as required;
  • Effectively liaise with Production staff to make corrections and improvements to designs.

We are seeking someone who has:

  • A tertiary qualification with a minimum of 3 years or more experience in the same or similar role.
  • Experience using SolidWorks to convert design briefs into design details and working drawings;
  • Experience in Machine design (desirable).
  • The ability to design, document (in AutoCad of Draft Sight) and commission Pneumatic Systems;
  • An understanding of electrical control systems including the suitable applications for PLCs, HMIs, Servos, VFDs, etc;
