Description:
WHAT IS THE JOB?
As an integral part of our Engineering Team, the Mechanical Design Engineer, Manufacturing will work in close collaboration with Quality, Design and Production teams to design innovative solutions to meet the needs of our manufacturing operations as well as leading and supporting process improvement initiatives. You will need to be driven and want to improve your knowledge.
Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.00 am – 4.30 pm

There are now 22 facilities across the world in 13 countries. Here in Ely, we are responsible for the Motion Control and Optical Tables product line.
Responsibilities:
- Manufacturing Engineering design responsibility for heavy manufacturing and precision mechanical/electrical devices
- Lead the design, test, procurement and introduction new machinery, equipment, jigs and fixtures as well as design for precision electro/mechanical devices, ensuring all compliance and H&S requirements are met
- Lead, support and implement process improvement initiatives to improve production efficiency and productivity
- Develop Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) solutions to existing products and processes
- Provide a rapid response and resolution to any production issues, including but not limited to jig or fixture problems, manufacturing & assembly problems, quality of parts
- Support the R&D teams with new product introductions to provide smooth transition into production
- Assist and provide support in creating and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)
- Assist the production maintenance teams to help reduce production downtime
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering to ensure part quality issues identified are investigated, root cause established and resolved in a timely manner
- Assess alternative component parts for a product to ensure continuity of supply chain
