Schneider Electric’s Buildings division presents an exceptional opening for an enthusiastic individual to take on the position of Mechanical Design Engineer focusing on HVAC valve and actuator assemblies and components.
In this role, you will drive design activities for product development, evolution, and sustainability, ensuring top-notch performance, quality, and reliability while meeting product specifications and standards.

WHAT QUALIFICATIONS WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL?

  • Technical engineer with a Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering and 5 to 7 years’ experience in the design and support of mechanical (valves) and electro-mechanical assemblies (actuators) for HVAC applications.
  • Experience in gear design, electronic packaging, small motor and motor drivers, metal stamping, GD&T and agency standards a plus.
  • Experienced in various technologies in product manufacturing, including but not limited to sandcasting, die casting, forging and metal machining, design of rubber seals, plastic injection molding and prototyping.
  • Ability to perform design calculations to verify and validate designs to industry and corporate standards
  • Self-driven and work collaboratively as part of a team to liaise with various functions and stakeholders.
  • 2-5 years’ experience with SolidWorks or ProE/Creo.
  • Finite Element Analysis, Computational Fluid Dynamics or other computer aided engineering tools a plus.
  • Strong problem solving, presentation and communication skills.
  • Good at oral & written communication in English to be able to communicate and collaborate with stakeholders based in China and Europe

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams (PMO, Marketing, GSC, Manufacturing, Quality, etc.) to determine design requirements and work on assigned projects to completion on time and to budget.
  • Using strong problem-solving skills complete engineering design and analysis activities to the requirements and present in stage gated process.
  • Capable of creation and validation of CAD models and drawings for communication with internal and external customers i.e prototyping houses, R&D test team, etc.
  • Practice sound design activities such as 8D problem solving, design reviews, product verification and validation, statistical design, tolerance analysis, engineering change procedures and product documentation creation, validation and release.
  • Consider manufacturing needs, including design for formability, assembly, supplier involvement and component and assembly measurement.
  • Responsible for the validation of FAIR / PPEP reports utilizing applied statistical methods and pilot run reviews.
  • Responsible for the review and evaluation of technical reports and analysis performed by internal and external engineering personnel and quality.
  • Provide technical support to production (non-conformances assessment and deviation approval), quality and marketing in investigating field complaint and returns.
