Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical design, preferably in the packaging machinery industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo).
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with FEA and other simulation tools.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Mechanical Design Engineer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and refining advanced packaging machines. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to excellence.
You will be reporting to the Engineering Manager - Packaging and be based in our head office at Sydney Olympic Park.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop mechanical components and systems for packaging machinery.
- Create detailed 3D models and 2D drawings using CAD software.
- Perform engineering calculations and simulations to ensure designs meet performance and safety standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, software developers, and production staff, to integrate mechanical designs into complete systems.
- Conduct prototype testing, analyze results, and iterate designs to achieve optimal performance.
- Prepare and maintain detailed documentation, including specifications, design notes, and user manuals.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in packaging technology.
- Provide technical support during the manufacturing and assembly process.
