Description:
My clients based near the borders of Suffolk, Cambridgeshire & Essex are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer - Precision Engineering / Fibre Optics.
This role is commutable from Cambridge, Saffron Walden, Royston, Dunmow, Braintree, Haverhill, Newmarket, Bury St. Edmunds.
This organisation designs & manufactures an extensive range of optical fibre based sub-systems with superior hermeticity & optical termination, as well as high efficiency coupling of lases, fibres & detectors.
The successful candidate will be working on the design of fibre optic assemblies, components and tooling to micron level tolerances and will be involved in a good level of documentation database administration.

Responsibilities:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Participate in the design and development process of new products – creating necessary component and assembly drawings and BOMs.
- Undertake engineering change activities to drawings, models and BOMS of existing products.
- Administering the design documentation control.
- Define and create BOM and identify part vendors.
- Support the engineering team with the development of prototypes.
- Design jigs and fixtures for manufacturing processes.
- Develop setups and prove prototypes.
- Provide initial product qualification against appropriate standards and quality procedures.
- Support product transfer to production and help with solving initial production issues.
