As part of the continued growth, we are seeking a talented Mechanical Development Engineer to join the dynamic team in Peterborough.
Role Overview: We are looking for a highly skilled Mechanical Development Engineer with expertise in core engine system validation. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, and validation of core engine systems, utilizing a range of testing methodologies including static and dynamic rigs, dyno testing, and machine testing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop test rigs and equipment for static and dynamic validation of core engine systems.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and validation procedures to ensure the performance, durability, and reliability of core engine components.
  • Utilize dyno testing and machine testing methodologies to assess the functionality and efficiency of core engine systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze test results, identify areas for improvement, and implement design modifications.
  • Generate detailed reports documenting test procedures, results, and recommendations for further refinement.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and best practices in core engine system validation.

Requirements-

Essential:

  • Strong technical background (HND or technical degree preferred in mechanical or automotive engineering) though other qualifications/ experience is equally valued.
  • Knowledge of Diesel engine core systems such as Rotating Systems, Valvetrain, casting, lubrication, breather and cooling systems.
  • Good understanding of Manufacturing principles & processes.
  • Validation experience of mechanical components and systems, including both rid and complete system testing.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Proven experience working in core engine system validation, including static and dynamic rigs, dyno testing, and machine testing.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for design and development of test rigs and equipment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a focus on accuracy and precision in testing procedures.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Prior experience is advantageous but not required.

Location: This position is based in Peterborough, UK. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship.
