Job Description
AECOM is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to be based in Denver, Colorado.
This position is expected to begin in May or June 2024.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing mechanical pipe stress modeling using industry standard software programs in conformance with codes and standards as well as project requirements.
  • Performing hydraulic process analysis for hydraulic systems using industry standard software programs in conformance with codes and standards as well as project requirements.
  • Assembling calculation packages for the sizing of mechanical and process equipment such as pumps, tanks, piping systems, etc.
  • Developing reports in Microsoft Word to communicate the technical results of these calculations, including summaries, figures, tables, methodologies, and explanations of significant calculations.
  • Perform early project design work such as conceptual studies, process flow diagram development, P&IDs, mass balances, preliminary equipment sizing and selection, datasheets, and general facility layout/arrangements.
  • Working with senior team members to integrate data from these calculations, studies, and analysis into project-specific designs.
  • Assist in the development of design documents, including equipment and piping layouts, pipeline alignments, materials specifications, equipment specifications, vendor data requirements, etc.
  • Perform detailed technical bid analyses for mechanical equipment such as pumps, tanks, valves, piping components, and other mechanical and piping systems.
  • Review of vendor shop drawings in accordance with industry codes and standards as well as project specific requirements.
  • Support the construction team by supporting the RFI process by coordinating with project team to track, status, and close the RFI’s, providing requested information, creative design solutions, etc.
  • Ensure the required services meet project requirements on time and within budget.
  • Development of equipment bid documents.
  • Work productively and meet assigned deadlines.
  • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
  • Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.
  • Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent engineering program from an ABET accredited university.
  • Due to the nature of work, US Citizenship is required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passing score on the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, with Engineer in Training (EIT) credential or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
  • Previous relevant internship experience.
  • Mechanical stress analysis and/or hydraulic process analysis software experience.
  • Adaptable to working with personnel from different geographic environments and cultures.
  • Proactive ‘can-do’ attitude towards working with colleagues.
  • Ability to communicate and telecommunicate professionally.
  • Strong Microsoft skills in Windows, Office 365, and SharePoint.
