Heidelberg Materials is seeking a Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering Student. Reporting to the Area Manager, Ready Mix Concrete, the Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering Student will be responsible for aiding the ready mix concrete team. This co-op work term can be 4 months (May – August 2024) or 8 months (May – December 2024).

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • Minimum Grade 12 education, preference given to applicable post-secondary education
  • Quality control, manufacturing, or production experience is an asset
  • Demonstrated basic math skills
  • Desire to work cooperatively as part of a productive team
  • Ability to work safely, and independently without constant supervision
  • Able to work inside and outside in year-round weather conditions
  • In good physical condition, able to lift and carry up to 75 lbs., sit and stand for extended periods of time, kneel, climb ladders, and walk on varied terrain
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule including different shifts and overtime when needed
  • Can provide own transportation to primary work site. Work location is not on a bus route.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Operations Team with managing and communicating KPIs.
  • Safety:
  • Review and improve site safety processes and programs.
  • Assist in setting up Learning Management System for safety program.
  • Maintenance Support:
  • CMMS implementation support
  • Inventory management review
  • Support plant maintenance and fleet maintenance planning activities
  • Project Support
  • Aid site staff in implementing plant efficiency improvement projects.
  • Eager to learn Office 365 systems (PowerApps, PowerAutomate, PowerBI)
  • Work in conjunction with production personnel to evaluate problems with safety, quality and production.
