Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Corvus is looking for an experienced Engineer to join our mechanical engineering team.
Reporting to the Director, Modularized Battery Equipment, the Mechanical Engineer - Dolphin NG is primarily responsible for releasing and implementing improvements to the Dolphin NG product line, which will be the premier Li-ion energy storage product for maritime applications.

WORK EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s or BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ experience in a product development/manufacturing company.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Proficient at SolidWorks (assembly, drawing, sheet metal, simulation, MBD)
  • Experienced with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Hands-on experience building prototypes, test jigs, and fixtures.
  • Experience in the following: FEA analysis, DFMEAs, PDM and volume manufacturing.
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes such as forming, machining, plastic injection molding, 3D printing.

PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must work well as an individual with minimal supervision or as part of a small agile multi-disciplinary design team.

Responsibilities:

  • Interface with the Manufacturing and Service teams to investigate failures leading to root-cause, and implementing creative, cost-effective solutions (incl. test jigs, tests, etc.)
  • Develop volume manufacturable designs and work with the manufacturing team and vendors/supply chain to optimize designs for assembly.
  • Provide design services for new and upcoming products: strength analysis, thermal management designs, fluid flow design, bus bar design, etc.
  • Maintain and own product level configurations, BOMs, interface to supply chain. Qualification of alternative parts and specifications.
  • Conduct design review meetings to present new designs/solutions.
  • Other duties as required:
  • Help develop best practices for CAD modeling and design documentation.
  • Build prototypes, perform FAI, fitment, and functional tests to evaluate/verify design.
  • Participant in ECO process and CAR investigation/ownership
