OUR OPPORTUNITY

Work Location: Perth and Site
Roster: Half site-based, half Perth Office based (5/2 in Perth, 4/3 at site)
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Energy Operations team at Fortescue. In the role you will be providing specialist engineering solutions across a wide range of asset and life cycle issues and ensure technical asset integrity.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A strong safety focus.
  • A strong technical aptitude with the ability to quickly analyse and solve problems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Practical experience in power generation, specifically with rotating plant, pressure parts and systems, gas turbines and/or reciprocating engines.
  • Experience in the development and delivery of small opex and capex projects.
  • Strategic understanding of operation and maintenance of power plants.
  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline such as mechanical engineering.

Responsibilities:

  • Embracing Fortescue values and a commitment to zero harm and environmental responsibility.
  • Providing specialist engineering solutions across a wide range of asset and life cycle issues and ensure technical asset integrity.
  • Managing small through to large-scale engineering investigations including the completion of all aspects of the engineering design. These would cover new assets, major maintenance activities, failure investigations, reliability reviews and rectification, and upgrade works.
  • Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair to ensure that generating units and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications.
  • Responding to technical queries from the site operations team relating to the safe and reliable operation of each generating unit.
  • Engineering leadership and support to the operations groups who are accountable for the delivery of the site-specific maintenance plans.
  • Identify, assess, and manage engineering risks.
  • Maintaining clear communication with key stakeholders.
  • Understanding and ensuring assets comply with technical, regulatory and governance requirements.
