Description:
Yamaha has an excellent opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer II to join our Marine team in Kennesaw, GA. This person will support the design and development of the wetted surfaces of Yamaha marine products (sport boats, wave runners, hydrofoils, propellers, and outboard motors). This person will be responsible for hydrodynamic analysis using computational fluid dynamics (CFD), product testing, and first principles analysis to ensure that the product design matches performance specifications.
WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Naval Architecture
- 5-10 years’ experience designing high-speed marine vehicles/propulsion systems
- Strong working knowledge of aerodynamic/hydrodynamic theory
- CAD experience with SolidWorks, Rhino, or Siemens NX
- Proficient with Microsoft office tools, MatLab
- Experience with CFD for analysis of marine vehicles propulsion systems. (STAR-CCM+ preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of design optimization techniques preferred
- Working knowledge of control theory preferred
- Coursework and/or project related to machine learning/AI in engineering applications preferred

Responsibilities:
- Design of marine products using CAD software (Solidworks, Rhino, CAESES)
- Evaluation and optimization of the hydrodynamic surfaces using CFD prior to prototyping and in water testing
- Development of design and test standards for marine products
- Reverse engineering of prototypes and inspection to ensure samples match design.
- Travel to test sites, factories, and on water boat testing
- Offer knowledge and advice as an in-house expert for modifications of hydrodynamic surfaces to meet product performance specifications
- Factory support for the evaluation and approval of production parts
- Technical support for product planning and competitive analysis
- Development of CFD/FEA center of excellence at YMUS
- Development of novel procedures for evaluation of hydrodynamic performance of various products
