  • Formal tertiary engineering or mechanical technical experience in manufacturing operations
  • Experience working within formal manufacturing improvement system such as Lean, TPM or equivalent is desirable
  • Formal training in Six Sigma, RCA, ICAM or equivalent methodology is desirable
  • Proficient in using Microsoft suite
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills, report writing, debating, etc.
  • Ability to identify manufacturing improvement opportunities in an industrial setting

Responsibilities:

As a Mechanical Process Engineer at our manufacturing site in Newcastle, you will be reporting to the Maintenance and responsible for providing resource for the development of new products processes and technology within the Austube Mills business, as well as assisting in legal compliance of overhead cranes, maintaining and achieving reliability of existing plant and equipment. You will also take part in the process of continual improvement for asset reliability within the team. You will be part of the maintenance team where you will assist the other team members with accurate asset reliability data and other information as reasonably required.

  • Developing and maintaining asset lifecycle register
  • Developing drawings, specifications, schematics in relation to maintenance, repair and project work
  • Organizing the acquisition of necessary parts, labor and materials to carry out mechanical improvements and projects
  • Managing the design, procurement and all required activities to meet the project schedule
  • Participating in the risk mitigation activities and incident investigations when required
  • Ensuring that all work orders are closed in a timely fashion within the approved budgets
  • Monitoring and controlling all financial aspects of the project engineering to provide accurate forecasts costs, obtain approvals and identifying project improvement opportunities
  • Providing high quality engineering solutions to achieve business needs
