Description:

StandardAero is searching for an Mechanical Engineer to join our Test Facility Engineering Team.
In this exciting and challenging role you will be responsible for design, manufacturing, implementing, testing, troubleshooting and maintaining Mechanical systems for testing gas turbine engines and test facilities.
The Test Facility Engineering Team is responsible for maintaining 51 global Engine Test Facilities, integrating new engine test platforms and sustainment activities for existing test facilities. StandardAero services engines from manufacturers including General Electric, Pratt and Whitney, Rolls Royce, and Honeywell plus others. Members of our team occasionally have the opportunity to travel to remote sites which include several U.S. locations, Canada, the Netherlands, Singapore, UK and Australia.
The selected candidate will be part of a team consisting of Electrical, Mechanical, Performance and Computer Engineers as well as Designers and Project Managers to create systems that are compliant, innovative, reliable, maintainable, and easy to operate.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 4 plus years of experience
  • University degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Experience with mechanical designs and related instrumentation.
  • Experience working with hydraulics, compressed air and fuel systems.
  • Working knowledge of PCs in the current company operating system environment.
  • Strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience with project management in a manufacturing environment.
  • Working knowledge of federal and provincial fire, building, plumbing and electrical codes an asset.
  • Working knowledge of gas turbine engines and specific product knowledge an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Direct the planning, design, engineering, procurement, cost, scheduling, construction, commissioning and troubleshooting activities of multiple major projects by coordinating effort of various internal departments, project teams and outside consulting resources.
  • Prepare conceptual and detailed design of major engineering projects requiring mechanical considerations.
  • Manage projects based on approved timelines and project management principles.
  • Provide technical and financial data for preparation of project justification and cost benefit analysis.
  • Review and evaluate contracts for work to be performed by consultants and outside contractors, approve plans and designs and resolve problems as they arise.
  • Monitor all work in progress to ensure that quality and engineering standards are met.
  • Act as a liaison with internal and external customers, assuring satisfaction with progress and quality.
  • Participate in projects as a team member and/or team project leader.
  • Carry out special duties as assigned.
