Overview of the Role
Reporting direct to the Maintenance Manager, this role is an opportunity to introduce the successful candidate to the Saputo maintenance department.
This is an opportunity for practical experience shadowing and supporting an experienced maintenance team comprising of millwrights, electricians, planner, and coordinator; with a mission to increase machinery and equipment reliability and efficiencies.
This role will be part of a maintenance service team that will use analysis skills on equipment performance problems; learning how legacy problems on that machine has affect its performance therefore developing an action plan through root cause analysis activities.
The present schedule is Monday – Friday, 40 hours/week with some night and weekend shift rotation happening depending on the tasks and assignments given. Availability for evening/weekend a must for this role.
How you will make contributions that matter:

The successful candidate will be required to be involved under supervision of an experienced maintenance personnel in the following:

  • Involved in reactive, predictive, and preventative maintenance troubleshooting on plant equipment and machinery.
  • Will be expected to do some repairs and modification on equipment in breakdown situations to minimize downtime.
  • Perform visual inspections and general equipment setup and preventative maintenance tasks to identify potential failures.

Depending on the successful candidate’s specialty, 1 of the following projects will be considered as the main focus:

Design and Automation: Project Industry 4.0

  • Successful candidate will be part of the project that is developing methods to connect machinery to continuous monitoring.
  • Supporting the Operational Technology and Continuous Improvement departments in ensuring successful connectivity.
  • Working with Saputo designated PLC programmer on developing secure methods to connect machinery to the network.
  • Identifying, developing, and actioning a plan that connects switches, sensors and servers that monitor equipment performance.

Design and Analysis: Project Efficiency Enhancement.

  • Successful candidate will be part of the project that is focused on understanding machine efficiencies and critical failures.
  • Find strategic ways to improve reliability of mechanical systems which improves production uptime and reduced costs.
  • Analyzing repetitive critical equipment failure and make recommendations on improvement actions and strategies.
  • Study the technical downtime daily. Provide feedback and identifying trends, potential issues, improvement opportunities.

Design and Development: Project Health Safety/Food Safety Response

  • Successful candidate will be part of the project that is focused on developing solutions that will be used to resolve safety issues.
  • Developing ideas, designing proposed solutions that will enhance any health & safety concerns or food safety requirements.
  • Be part of an experienced investigation team for root cause analysis and incident investigation on safety specific problems.
  • Design and develop proposals to enhance staff safety through improved guarding, or platforms as observed during inspections.

You are best suited for the role if you have the following qualifications:

Education:

  • Currently enrolled in the Mechanical Engineering Technology Diploma program

Skills:

  • Good class attendance and referral available from at minimum 1 of the course teachers.
  • Highly organized with strong analytical, coordination and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working independently and with a team, with the ability to be flexible.
  • Focused on success, able to multitask and successfully complete objectives.
  • Ability for report writing and documentation of tasks on a daily an added advantage.
