Description:

NSB Omega is seeking a Mechanical Engineer/Unit Inspector R&Rs for our client in Edmonton AB.

ASSIGNMENT DESCRIPTION

  • Historian for the condition and previous workscope for all pressure piping and equipment covered by the Unit Inspector.
  • Ensure all mitigating tasks, time-based and regulatory inspection are executed timely
  • Develops inspection worklists for annual maintenance and Turnaround based on both risk based and regulatory time-based drivers
  • Develops detailed scoping packages for mechanical planning, NDE contractor and mechanical contractor to execute inspection tasks
  • Monitors progress on annual plan to flag when tasks will not be completed on time, evaluates and communicates risk to site in order to develop interim mitigation plans
  • Supports development of RBI strategies to ensure that history is adequately assessed and mitigating tasks are recommended in accordance with company policies.
  • Acts as the Owner’s Inspector in individual unit (area of responsibility) to review and approve: - All NDE or QA/QC for repair/replacements (including project, turnaround, maintenance) - All contractor ITP and WPS - Can be delegated to QA/QC Inspector for B31.3 - All repair/alteration travel sheets (most importantly pressure vessel) - Responsible to ensure frequent audits of QA/QC program to ensure the NPQA and related documents are being followed. -Ensure that NDE Techs are adequately qualified (certifications, calibration checks, UT exams, etc.) - Welders certifications are up to date. - ABSA regulations being followed. - PMI records are complete.
  • Reviews all inspection data to assess the current risk and mitigation actions required
  • Responsible to develop quarterly inspection stewardship
  • Leads all visual inspection field activities and assessments during maintenance and turnaround
  • Develops detailed turnaround inspection reports
  • Creates detailed history records for all API 510 internal or Onstream inspections
  • Responsible for updating equipment records after inspection tasks or repairs are complete
  • Notify the Chief Inspector for any regulatory incidents requiring notification to ABSA, or any regulatory non-compliance.
  • Incident / Emergency Response - Field assessment, visual inspection, NDE coordination and repair oversight.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Mechanical or Materials Engineering Bachelor’s Degree
  • Registered as an EIT or Professional Engineer with APEGA (or have the ability to register)
  • API 510 or API 570 Certification
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry preferably in a petrochemical facility
