Description:
HSDC is seeking to appoint a Mechanical Engineering Technician in our busy Engineering team at our South Downs Campus. The successful candidate will have a solid knowledge of mechanical automotive engineering. However, there will be opportunity to upskill and develop areas of required specialist knowledge
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with team are essential, alongside organisational, prioritisation, and problem-solving skills. While a strong knowledge of the area is desirable, we are open to supporting a candidate that is willing to learn and build on what could be more limited industry experience and knowledge.
Essential skills include:
- Relevant industrial/subject experience and working knowledge of the relevant vocational area
- Efficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and PowerPoint
- Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
- Time management skills, organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
- Ability to communicate to a diverse range of people at all ages and levels, verbally and in writing
- and willing to develop and build on current experience and knowledge.
Salary: Grade 3 Spine Point 12 FTE £24,468.13 (fixed point)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Weeks: 52 weeks per year

Responsibilities:
- To organise daily activities within the learning environment, including the preparation of teaching resources and housekeeping.
- Monitor and maintain equipment and prepare replacement plans.
- Clean and maintain working spaces, develop working environment, provide technical support and assistance for projects.
- To provide assistance to individuals or groups of students within the learning environment. For specific departments this may include work placements and instructing/directing of students
- To participate in curriculum area, College, employer/parent functions, meetings and promotional activities as required.
