Description:
The Gear Centre Group, a leading provider of powertrain parts and service for the automotive, heavy truck and off-highway equipment industries, is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist in Edmonton, AB.
The Mechanical Engineering Technologist is responsible for specifically sourcing, pricing and negotiating with vendors on various materials and equipment. Experience or education relating to customs would be considered an asset but not required, as training will be provided for the right candidate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, preferably in the automotive or heavy-duty equipment industry.
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and engineering analysis tools.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical design principles, materials selection, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience with product testing, validation, and troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze mechanical systems, components, and assemblies using CAD software.
- Conduct research and feasibility studies to identify innovative solutions and optimize product performance.
- Collaborate with suppliers to select and source materials, components, and equipment.
- Perform testing, validation, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and reports.
- Participate in cross-functional teams to support product development and improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical support to internal teams, customers, and suppliers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues.
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements, applying new knowledge to enhance our products and processes.
