Department Vice-President Facilities & Operations - Trades & Infrastructure Maintenance
Salary range $71,557 - $119,269

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 10 years’ institutional/commercial construction in the mechanical discipline
- Journeyman certificate in a related commercial mechanical trade, or, a professional engineer with an APEGA license in the commercial building mechanical field
- Proven ability to effectively manage maintenance/operational budgets of up to $7M
- Excellent practical working knowledge of all current Codes and Standards relevant to the commercial mechanical trade
- Thorough working knowledge of Alberta occupational health and safety act, regulation, and code
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum 5 years’ mechanical trade supervisory/managerial experience
- Proven ability to use digital enterprise solutions to their managerial advantage
- Proven personnel leadership strengths and effective team development experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Adaptive leader who demonstrates good mental health resilience and can lead others in the same

Responsibilities:
- Champions physical and psychological safety within their teams and leads by example, takes a leadership role in the continuous improvement of the safety program
- Budget accountability and spending responsibility for their scopes of maintenance (approx $3M) and renewals (approx $1.3M)
- Uses evidence-based decision making to set priorities and direction for mechanical teams
- Provides their subject matter expertise to evaluate mechanical system conditions for planning purposes
- Manages maintenance contractors used to perform supporting functions that cannot be achieved in-house, to augment regulatory maintenance performance, and to assist with key maintenance initiatives
- Performs general administration duties
- Leads in staff appreciation planning, recruitment, temporary staff level expansion and contraction, human relations issues, personnel performance management
