Description:

Our team of product development engineers focuses on new product development, but we don’t just design it and run away. We typically take the development from cradle to grave (systems architecture, systems engineering, design, documentation, build, test, & release). We work on a variety of projects within Applied Materials and with a variety of groups (ion implant, CVD, automation, CTO, common systems, etc.).
We are looking for someone with a broad experience base who is willing to tackle difficult problems, learn new technologies and methods, and leverage existing technologies and methods; someone who can design, assemble, and test the design but can also lead a development project and work with internal customers when needed. Many of our team members lead projects so it’s helpful to be able to both lead and follow.
We are looking for someone who is willing to work with multiple CAD systems as we work with different groups within the company, so you may be using NX on one project and Creo on another.
We are looking for someone with one or more areas of expertise, but we typically work as generalists.
If you are interested in leveraging what you know and learning new things as well, then you would likely be a good candidate. We work with a variety of groups and on a variety of projects. Past efforts include ion implant, ALD, CVD, plasma doping, wafer handling, mechanism design, automation, systems engineering, vacuum systems, atmospheric systems, thermal systems, packaging, high voltage, machine vision, power distribution, motion control, and sensor selection/integration.
The successful candidate must be skilled at interacting with the variety of organizations inside and outside the company, must be capable of interacting with senior management, and capable of presenting to customers when needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Mechanical / Machine Design Experience (weldments, sheetmetal, structures, chambers, pressure vessels, basic mechanisms)
  • Proficient in mechanical design principles, including CAD software (modeling and drafting) and FEA tools.
  • Proficient in mechanical engineering fundamentals: Machine Design, Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, Materials, Statics and Dynamics
  • Ability to manage projects and work effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Feels as comfortable in the lab doing hands-on task and testing, as designing components.
  • Can travel domestically and internationally to support projects up to 20% (varies considerably by project)
  • Can start ASAP

Bonus Qualifications

  • Knowledge of Semiconductor manufacturing and equipment; Ion Implant a plus.
  • Creo / Windchill experience
  • High Voltage mechanical design
  • Vacuum chamber design
  • System facilities design experience (Exhaust, Cooling Water, Process gases)
