Established 50 years ago our client designs, manufactures, installs and services special purpose and material handling machinery (cranes, hoists, capital equipment). They are expanding their presence throughout Australia and require an experienced Mechanical Project Engineer with a passion for R&D.

Responsibilities:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist with and study the overall business requirements in order to specify R&D projects
  • Deliver custom-made mechanical designs, and diverse equipment (mining conveyors & warehouse conveyors, overhead & gantry cranes as well as rope hoists, large gears & power generation)
  • Ensure all projects are designed on time and within budget
  • Ensure designs are produced to and in line with Australian Standards
  • 3D design with Inventor and or Solid Works
  • Manage all BOMs
  • Prepare mechanical calculations for tender and client approval
  • Continuously Improve new projects within the R&D team - focus on reducing manufacturing and installation costs, selecting cost-effective materials and outsourced components
  • Report and present project analysis
  • Attend site visits occasionally

TO BE A SUCCESSFUL FIT FOR THIS PERMANENT ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

  • A Degree
  • Working knowledge of the following; AS1755, AS1418, AS3990 and more
  • 5 to 10 years’ relevant experience within mining conveyors & warehouse conveyors, overhead & gantry cranes as well as rope hoists, large gears & power generation equipment
  • Excellent 3d design and delivery of custom-made mechanical equipment experience
  • Deep knowledge of pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical design and engineering standards
  • Experience preparing full mechanical calculations for tender and client approval
  • Material knowledge Strong PM and Leadership skills
