job summary:
A Mechanical Project Engineer is needed for a multinational corporation that produces mirrors as well as a variety of construction, high-performance, and other materials in the Oxford, NC area. This role involves managing the development and implementation of equipment and installations within capital projects for manufacturing plants, requiring expertise in mechanical engineering, project management, procurement, commissioning, and effective communication and collaboration with various teams.

responsibilities:

  • Assist in evaluating and developing assigned capital packages, including design, procurement, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Develop initial designs and layouts, progressing them into detailed plans and drawings.
  • Support senior project engineers to ensure safe, timely, and budget-compliant installations.
  • Assist in the development of designs and processes, considering safety, operations, and legal compliance.
  • Analyze project requirements and conduct technical calculations to support design decisions.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts for process plant design.
  • Aid in the startup and commissioning of equipment onsite.
  • Ensure efficient project transfer to Operations, including documentation and training.
  • Maintain and communicate project status to meet company goals.
  • Participate in project design phase, providing valuable input.
  • Follow Project Execution Manual Checklists, applying standard tools throughout the project.
  • Maintain fluid communication and collaboration with various teams during the project lifecycle.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience: Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of industrial manufacturing experience.
  • Practical knowledge of piping system design in continuous process manufacturing.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings.
  • Understanding or experience in equipment sizing, specifying, and installation.
