Description:

Cory is recruiting for the position of Mechanical Technician at their Energy from Waste Facility in Belvedere.
Using waste that would otherwise have gone to landfill as fuel to generate electricity, the facility generates c.575,000MWh of electricity each year from processing c.800,000 tonnes of waste. The company uses the River Thames as a green highway to move waste from London on tugs and barges, effectively removing 100,000 truck movements a year off roads. By generating electricity from residual waste, the plant is improving resource efficiency, avoiding landfill use and achieving greater sustainability as part of London’s circular economy.

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate the following essential knowledge, skills and experience:

  • HNC or equivalent in a relevant Engineering discipline
  • A Working knowledge of applicable Health, Safety and Environmental legislation
  • Experience of using a Computerised maintenance management Systems
  • Previous experience of working in an Energy from Waste industry or similar heavy process industry
  • Previous experience of managing contractor

Responsibilities:

The holder of this role will provide an important function that directly contributes to the daily working and smooth running of the Riverside EfW facility through various operational duties and responsibilities.
Under the direction of the Lead Mechanical Technician, the role is to organise and facilitate the mechanical maintenance and repair of plant and equipment across the site, whilst ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety, Environmental and Operational procedures of the EfW Facility under all situations and conditions. They will also identify maintenance problems and equipment failure frequency rates.

A summary of the role duties and responsibilities are as follows:-

  • Ensure that operational duties are carried out in compliance with current legislation (HASWA, LOLER, PSSR, PUWER)
  • Organising and facilitating planned and reactive maintenance
  • Assist in the development of maintenance strategies.
  • Perform fault finding and technical diagnosis involved with system and equipment fault rectification.

Please note: the hours for this role are on a staggered day shift, with one weekend in four rostered
