Description:

We are looking for a mechanical technician who has an interest in working in an automotive engine development test environment. You will be working as a part of our Test Services team

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Graduation from an accredited trade program such as plumbing or gas fitting
  • 5-7 years of relevant prior experience
  • Red seal certified or in-progress in gas installations or plumbing is preferred
  • Experience in transportation, High Pressure CNG lines or mechanical systems an asset
  • Experience with Hydrogen systems an asset
  • Knowledge of Swagelok, MPI or Cone & Thread tubing systems and asset
  • Shop skills using hand and powered tools to assemble pipe and tubing, fabricate, form and weld steel, stainless steel and aluminum an asset
  • Aptitude for diagnosing and repairing problems in fluid systems
  • Ability to work indoors or outdoors in all conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50kgs
  • Clean driving license
  • Effective interpersonal Skills
  • Strong computer skills are required: MS Office

Responsibilities:

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Preventative maintenance of engine dynamometer and test rig support equipment such as natural gas and air compressors, gas equipment, cooling towers, diesel and hydraulic systems, intake and exhaust system
  • Building rigs in shop and commissioning and supporting their operation
  • Building and maintaining all aspects of engine test cells
  • Maintaining preventative maintenance logs and data base, records keeping
  • Maintaining shop supplies, tools, materials related to test rig and engine operations
  • Operation of fork lift and company truck
  • Demonstrable shop skills in pipe and tube fitting, welding and fabrication of steel and aluminum, use of powered workshop tools in a safe and efficient manner
  • A commitment to safety and excellence in work and organizational habits
  • Ability to travel to customer sites world wide if so required

HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote Westport’s H&S following all Environmental, H&S policies and procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
  • Report unsafe conditions, behaviors, and all accidents
  • Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative
