COMPANY DESCRIPTION

  • In collaboration with and under the responsibility of the Medical Manager or Head of Medical Affairs execute flawlessly the brand strategies into (in-field) medical activities to address the unmet needs in the specific TA, enhance the quality of care of these patients and ensure optimal knowledge of HCPs on AbbVie products.
  • Be the subject matter expert by having in-depth scientific knowledge on the unmet needs and new treatment strategies in the specific TA, including but not limited to AbbVie products.
  • Be an excellent medical affairs in-field team member focusing on scientific exchange, medical research, and cross-functional collaboration and in close collaboration with the MSL.
  • Display strong medical leadership as to lead and support Standard of Care initiatives in the specific TA.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • In collaboration with and under the responsibility of the Medical Manager or the Head of Medical Affairs develop and execute a comprehensive medical affairs plan including a detailed Scientific Interaction Plan and Cycle Plan and evidence generation plan starting with a thorough gap analysis and including IIS-es/registries and non-interventional/epidemiologic studies as well as educational concepts.
  • Collaborate with in-field team members to execute brand / account plans through aligned Cycle Plans and in-field excellence.
  • Serve as the point of contact within the medical affairs team for HCPs in order to satisfy their needs for scientific knowledge in a therapeutic area and, when requested, relevant AbbVie medicines, to support their safe, effective and appropriate use.
  • Gain insights relevant to the strategic brand planning process and, together with the Medical Manager or Head of Medical Affairs, provide input in the development of a cross functional, insight-driven brand strategy.
  • Provide medical and scientific expertise to brand team and in-field team to support the brand and account strategy and drive executional excellence, in particular to AbbVie’s Standard of Care projects to improve patient outcomes.
  • Deliver credible presentations on scientific matters to HCPs, individually or in groups, when relevant.
  • Collaborate with CSM in the initiation, oversight and follow up of current and future studies in the specific therapeutic area to ensure rapid and flawless execution of the clinical trial program. Serve as the in-field medical lead for medical projects initiated within the therapeutic area.
  • Coordination of IIS/NIS; act as point of contact for the investigator, guide the IIS/NIS AbbVie approval process, including presenting for ARC/GUS-RC, in close cooperation with Medical Operations Department.
  • Attend and participate in relevant scientific meetings and conferences. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop summaries of key data and other scientifically relevant information to inform AbbVie strategic priorities and initiatives.
  • Delivering training to AbbVie colleagues.
  • Reviewing of promotional material.
  • Ensure solid experience with cross-functional teams especially in the brand team and matrix organizations.
  • Providing expert medical/scientific advice for assigned products and related therapeutic areas, contributing to the development and medical and scientific accuracy of core dossiers (i.e. pricing and reimbursement dossiers, GeCo dossiers, medical information packs, etc)
  • Ensure that all activities and interactions are conducted with due regard to all applicable local, global and national laws, regulations, guidelines, codes of conduct, company policies and accepted standards of best practice.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Academic, biomedical degree (medicine, pharmaceutical sciences, biology, medical biology).
  • Minimum of 3 years of medical affairs experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong preference for experience in oncology.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in an in-field medical position desired.
  • Fluent in Dutch and English (written/spoken).
  • Strong preference for experience working in complex matrix environments.
  • Hybrid model based in Hoofddorp (3 days onsite).

MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE

  • Expert knowledge of therapeutic area (oncology) , AbbVie and competitor products and data.
  • Viewed as trustworthy and a scientific therapeutic area expert.
  • Seen as a true peer by External Experts based on high level of scientific and medical expertise.
  • Scientific resource for training other internal stakeholders (Medical and Commercial).
  • Identifies potential future data gaps which could have an impact on the brand. Utilizes insights from External Experts to further shape the strategy beyond a one-year plan.
