Description:

Do you have strong organizational and customer services skills? If so, consider this challenging opportunity with the Ministry of the Solicitor General, where you will provide administrative support to the staff of the health care unit of a correctional facility.

TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • You have knowledge of office administration procedures and practices, including knowledge of filing systems and related technology
  • You can interpret and apply relevant legislation (i.e. Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and the Mental Health Act)
  • You understand medical terminology in order to interpret information
  • You have knowledge of institution and health care policies regarding the release of medical information

ORGANIZATIONAL, ANALYTICAL AND REASONING SKILLS:

  • You use your analytical skills to recognize errors (i.e. missing information/documents/signatures, enclosures in out-going mail, scheduling conflicts)
  • You are organized and can prioritize a variety of tasks with conflicting deadlines

COMMUNICATION, INTERPERSONAL AND COMPUTER SKILL:

  • You can prepare and present information in a clear and concise manner
  • You use your interpersonal skills to work effectively with a diverse client group
  • You can work independently and as part of a team
  • You are proficient with various computer software applications and databases (i.e. MS Office, OTIS)

Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Provide receptionist services
  • Prepare a variety of reports and correspondence
  • Book physician, specialist and medical test appointments
  • Complete applications for health insurance numbers
  • Coordinate physician billings
  • Prepare reconciliation statements
  • Maintain filing systems and other related administrative duties.
