Description:
The Trust is looking for a temporary Medical Oncology Consultant to cover a period of absence. We are looking for someone who is skilled in Upper GI and Lung Oncology.
This is a temporary 3 month part-time post (22nd April 2024 to 21st July 2024) consisting of outpatient work, SACT prescribing and MDT meetings. In order to fulfil the responsibilities of this post you must be eligible for full GMC registration.
The successful applicant will be based at the RSCH in Guildford, but will be required to travel to our outreach partner site Ashford and St Peters to provide a high level of care to the Oncology patients with upper GI and lung cancers.
To provide Oncology expertise in the management and treatment of patients with Upper Gastro-intestinal and Lung Tumours,
To be part of the MDT and clinical team
To be part of the radiotherapy MDT and clinical team
To play a full part in the out-of-hours On-Call service for Oncology
To provide cover for fellow Consultant colleagues in respect of periods of leave and organise leave in conjunction of Consultant colleagues according to Oncology department policy.
To take part in medical audit and research as appropriate.
To provide expertise for patients, participate in the local MDTs and training programmes
To participate in clinical trials as appropriate, in co-operation with the Alliance Research Lead
To ensure that the requirements of clinical governance are met.
To ensure that there are adequate arrangements for hospital staff involved in the care of your patients to be able to contact you when necessary.
To participate in CME and audit projects as appropriate

The remit of the Consultant post is to work with colleagues to provide an upper Gastro-intestinal and Lung Oncology service. The post holder will provide the Oncology service to patients in the catchment of our outreach partner - Ashford and St Peters Hospital (ASPH). This role will offer Chemotherapy and systematic therapy expertise for these patients.
The remit for the post will require a well organised individual with good team working skills and the ability to complete work within agreed timescales in co-operation with all staff groups and with support from senior colleagues
