Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

Vaughan Endoscopy Clinic is an out of hospital facility that specializes in colonoscopy and upper endoscopy procedures. We are looking for a certified Medical Device Reprocessing Technician with experience who will deliver attention to detail. 1 day/month and flexibility to cover illness/vacations. Hours from 8:30am - flexible end time (no later than 5:30pm)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for appropriate cleaning and high level disinfection of endoscopes, using specialized equipment and techniques. Cleaning must comply with high quality standards to ensure utmost patient safety.
  • Appropriate handling and disposal of waste materials, including chemicals and biohazards. Minimize exposure to chemicals used in disinfection process by use of safety equipment.
  • Be familiar with Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) for chemicals used in regards to health risks, first aid, storage and disposal.
  • Ensure that the scope cleaning room is kept clean and tidy. Maintain a “clean zone” separate from a “dirty zone” when processing endoscopes to prevent contamination.
  • Make sure that inventory of scope cleaning supplies is maintained
  • Maintain detailed records pertaining to the scope cleaning equipment and process, including performing and tracking valve lubrication and filter changes.
  • Perform back-up relevant to scope cleaning records.
  • On a monthly basis, thoroughly clean the stretchers with a disinfectant and record this on a log sheet.
  • On a daily basis, ensure that bed linens, patient gowns and scrubs are laundered and sufficient clean inventory is available for use.
  • Must adhere to VEC standard operating procedures, business practices and requirements as pertaining to the role.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by the manager to ensure efficient running of the clinic.
