Job Description
Job Title: Medical Director – OB Hospitalist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Director to oversee our OB Hospitalist program. The Medical Director will lead a team of OB Hospitalists, ensuring the highest quality of care for expectant mothers and promoting the overall well-being of patients. This role requires exceptional leadership skills, in-depth knowledge of obstetrics, and a passion for improving maternal healthcare.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Provide clinical oversight, strategic direction, and guidance to the OB Hospitalist team.
2. Collaborate with hospital administration and medical staff to develop and implement OB Hospitalist protocols and policies.
3. Lead quality improvement initiatives, promoting evidence-based practices and ensuring adherence to national guidelines.
4. Oversee and coordinate OB Hospitalist coverage, including scheduling and ensuring appropriate staffing levels.
5. Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide feedback to OB Hospitalist team members.
6. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that encourages professional growth and development.
7. Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and committees to enhance patient care and safety.
8. Maintain professional relationships with community providers, promoting collaboration and efficient healthcare delivery.
9. Stay updated with current trends and advancements in obstetrics and implement best practices.
10. Collaborate with hospital administration on strategic planning initiatives related to maternal healthcare services.
11. Serve as a liaison between the medical staff, hospital administration, and other departments.
12. Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and promote patient safety and satisfaction.
13. Provide on-call coverage as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
14. Coordinate educational initiatives and trainings for medical staff, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
15. Undertake research and contribute to publications or presentations related to obstetrics and women’s health.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
2. Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
3. Current and unrestricted medical license to practice in the United States.
4. Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in obstetrics, including experience as an OB Hospitalist.
5. Proven leadership experience within a healthcare setting.
6. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
8. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
9. Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and patient safety.
10. Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and other relevant healthcare software.
11. Detail-oriented and ability to adhere to strict protocols and guidelines.
12. Ability to mentor and provide guidance to medical staff.
13. Solid understanding of medical ethics and standards of care.
14. Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance requirements.
15. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and schedules.
