THE UNIVERSITY | ABOUT US…

Founded in 2003, the University of Luxembourg is the only public university in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Multilingual, international, and focused on research, it also defines itself as a modern institution with a human approach.
The University of Luxembourg, through its Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine, strives for excellence in research and in the education of biomedical sciences and health professions. Building on a tradition of teaching the first year of medicine, the University launched a curriculum of bachelor in medicine in 2020. Three curricula leading to specialised degrees in oncology, neurology and general medicine followed at the start of the academic year in September 2021.
The Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg - CHL is looking for a physician for its haematology-cancerology department. A haematology and/or oncology profile is favoured to provide patient care and supervise assistants in this field. The University of Luxembourg is looking for a clinical professor with a specialization in medical oncology to set up research and teaching in the field of concology. In this context, the University and the CHL are jointly recruiting a Professor in Medical Oncology (either at Full Professor level or at Associate Professor level with conditional promotion track). In accordance with the University law, the Associate Professor may be promoted to the rank of full professor after five years in the event of a positive evaluation by a committee set up in compliance with the provisions of the sub-mentioned law.
The clinical professor in medical oncology will have a dual affiliation with the CHL and the University of Luxembourg. He/she will be responsible for academic teaching and research (50%) within the university as well as patient care (50%) at the hospital. He/she will be in charge of postgraduate training in oncology and the general oncology module of the Bachelor of Medicine, working closely with his/her university and clinical colleagues. Patient care will take place in a multidisciplinary context, centred on multidisciplinary consultation meetings.

Responsibilities:

Clinical activity:
The candidate will have a clinical occupation (50%) as an employed clinician with the CHL. The clinical activity will cover all areas of oncology, including a range of solid and haematological tumours. To complement the multidisciplinary team, specialisation in one of the following sub-fields will be considered an asset: gynaecological-mammary oncology with expertise in immunotherapies, or clinical haematology with expertise in bone marrow transplantation and cell therapies.
Academic activities:
The academic activities include teaching and research. The candidate will be employed on a 50% basis at the University of Luxembourg.
