Description:

Principal Duties and Areas of Responsibility: Liaise with external organisations relating to the supply of parts, new equipment, and technical support. Identification and rectification of faults on all medical equipment. Routine servicing, maintenance, and calibration of all medical equipment. Creation, completion, and maintenance of records relevant to all equipment held and all work done.
The maintenance and ordering of a stock of spares to enable minimal delay in affecting repairs to equipment and down time of ambulances. Undertake audits and surveys as required. Liaise with staff at all levels. Liaise with the Fleet Operational Support Centre about faults and the availability of vehicles to effect repairs.
The kitting of new vehicles and de-kitting of old vehicles The creation and maintenance of equipment inventories, asset tagging and allocating of all medical equipment Participate in field trials and the checking of all new medical equipment for functional suitability Participate in projects when required. Assist with research, development and implementation of solutions relating to medical equipment. Assist with investigations following reported faults as part of the clinical governance and complaints procedure. Compliance with manufacturers protocols and recommendations Adhere to all YAS protocols and procedures.
Participate in meetings and present suggestions which directly affect the implementation of policies and procedures within own work area. Ensure incidents and near misses are reported in a timely and accurate manner, according to the Trusts risk management procedures. Participate in on-call rotas when required. Maintain a flexible attitude to work patterns, which may include working weekends and bank holidays.
Manual handling and lifting up to 15 20Kg. Professional electronics and mechanical knowledge and skills acquired through manufacturers courses and experience. Repair/maintain/install pneumatic pre-hospital medical devices including Oxygen Pressure Regulators, Flowmeters and Pipelines, Pneumatic Resuscitators/Ventilators, Entonox Delivery Systems and Suction devices. Repair/maintain/commission a full range of defibrillators including internal repairs and investigations.
Expertise within a specialist area. Train, support and guide the assistance medical equipment support technician. Day to day supervision/provides practical training. Understanding of service processes and procedures.
Updates service, operation, and instruction manuals of medical equipment. Awareness of operational environments in which the equipment is used and the common faults that may develop
