Description:

Applications are invited for a full time Medical Laboratory Assistant (Agenda for Change Band 2) in Clinical Chemistry based at Airedale General Hospital.
The department operates a 24/7 service. There is a requirement for flexible working within this role with core working hours between 8am and 8pm. The main hours of the role will include rotation between 8am-4pm, 9am-5pm and 12pm-8pm shifts, and may include weekend working to meet service delivery requirements.
Opportunities for personal development are strongly supported; however please note this post may not be suitable for individuals with Biomedical Science degrees as there is no progression to Biomedical Scientist grade .
Medical Laboratory Assistants are a key staff group, working alongside Biomedical Scientists to ensure the smooth running of the pathology department.
The primary duties of this role will involve answering telephone queries from users, locating samples, maintaining outstanding worklists and general housekeeping duties, including cleaning and disposal of laboratory waste.
The successful candidate will be required to work in all sections within the chemistry department, including the automated and manual sections of the Clinical Chemistry laboratories
There may be the requirement to work in other sections of the Blood Sciences Laboratory such as Haematology, Blood transfusion and Central Separating (sample reception), subject to the needs of the service.
