Te Whatu Ora – Health New Zealand, Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is spread across a vast geographical area and centred across two hospitals based in Tauranga and Whakatāne. We serve a population of approximately 308,000 for the major population centres of Tauranga, Katikati, Te Puke, Whakatāne, Kawerau and Ōpōtiki. Te Whatu Ora Hauora a Toi Bay of Plenty is one of the Bay of Plenty’s largest employers with over 4000 staff.

There are 36 Medical Registrar positions, two of which are dedicated positions for Advanced Trainees in Cardiology and Gastroenterology.
The Department of Medicine at Tauranga Hospital consists of more than 30 consultants working across Acute General Medicine, Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Renal, Rheumatology, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Oncology, Health in Ageing, Haematology and Palliative Care. The run period is 2 x six-monthly attachments.
The positions are based at Tauranga Hospital which is a busy secondary care hospital of around 350 beds with approximately 90 medical beds, 39 elderly/rehabilitation beds, including an acute stroke unit; 10 ICU beds; 10 CCU beds and 28 Acute Assessment beds.
