Description:

You should be able to provide a comprehensive and quality medical secretarial service to a team of Consultant Oncologists and associated supporting clinical staff, supporting the efficiency of front-line services.
Co-ordinate clinic management, manage and prioritise workload, liaising closely with other medical secretaries within the department and allied services.
Co-ordinate referrals and new appointments and liaising sensitively with patients. Providing first point of contact to the Consultants office, requiring emotional resilience for the sensitive nature of the department and organisational skills needed to co-ordinate visiting consultant workload.
To be the named point of contact when colleagues are on leave.
Organising consultant clinics
Word processing and audio typing
Patient - consultant liaison
Sort incoming postal and electronic mail
Communicate with external trusts for patient care
Cover for colleagues annual leave
Various office duties (photocopying, printing, answering telephone calls etc)
