Description:
ESSENTIAL SKILLS:
- A recognised qualification as a Social Worker
- Registration with CORU essential
- Experience with Fair Deal, the Nursing Home Support Scheme, and Home Care Package processes as relevant to the role (Desirable)
- All candidates need to have verification that they have completed the following e-learning programmes on HSEland: 1. Children First, 2. Good Information Practices, 3. Effective Complaints Handling and 4. Safeguarding adults at risk of abuse
- All candidates need to have completed the HSE Infection Prevention Control module on HSEland: 1. Hand hygiene for clinical staff, 2. Breaking the Chain of Infection and 3. Putting on and Taking Off PPE in Healthcare Settings.
- Demonstrates an ability to assess psychosocial factors impacting on an frail older person
- Demonstrate an understanding of the impact of illness, hospitalisation and disability on a frail older person and their family
- Knowledge of policy, legislation and best practice guidelines relevant to social work practice issues.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Maintain standards of practice and levels of professional knowledge by participating in continuous professional development initiatives and attendance at courses as appropriate.
- Engage in career and professional development planning in collaboration with the Senior /Principal Medical Social Worker.
- Keep abreast of developments in national policies and strategies and international best practice.
- Foster an understanding of the role and contribution of social work by providing professional consultation and education to other members of the service.

- Demonstrates an ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a wider team.
- Demonstrates the ability to create networks and establish partnerships and linkages with other community workers and organisations.
