Looking for a new challenge? An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the Cancer Services pharmacy team at University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Medicines Management Pharmacy Assistant to support us in the delivery of excellent hospital pharmacy services as our service is expanding.
This is an opportunity to join our friendly, committed team working in a support role. This role will be integral in supporting the provision of clinical services to patients on the wards and in clinical areas within the Macmillan Cancer Centre. As part of this role, you will be providing dispensing services, together with assisting with the supply of medicines to help facilitate a streamlined workflow ensuring key performance targets are met.

If you are interested in this post, you will need previous experience of working in either a hospital or community pharmacy and have a minimum of NVQ level 2 in Pharmacy services or equivalent.

Summary: To dispense medicines in an accurate and timely manner for inpatients and outpatients as directed by MMPTs using the pharmacy computer system and automated dispensing devices where in place.
To participate in the ward top-up service
To participate in ordering stock and non-stock items for named patients.
To participate in ensuring patients have sufficient supply of medications during their inpatient stay.
To support and participate in monthly audits to ensure standards are maintained at ward level.
To participate in the provision of a safe, efficient and timely pharmaceutical distribution service to all customers.
To efficiently use the pharmacy computer system to manage stock control.
To communicate effectively with a variety of support staff and customers e.g., purchasing dispensaries and ward staff.
UCLH, in partnership with University College London, has been designated one of the country’s five comprehensive biomedical research centres and there is an on-site early phase cancer clinical trials unit.
The UCLH Macmillan Cancer Centre opened in April 2012 and encompasses our busy outpatient clinics and daycare treatment facilities as well as our growing ambulatory chemotherapy practice.
The UCLH Grafton Way Building has recently opened earlier this year and will support our expanding haematology service including haematopoietic stem cell transplants and CAR-T therapy.
The pharmacy cancer team is well integrated into the cancer directorate and provides a high-quality and progressive pharmacy service to cancer patients. Chemotherapy production services are delivered from a state of the art unit.
