Description:

  • Maternity cover - 15 month fixed term contract/secondment*
    An exciting opportunity is available for a Medicines Safety Pharmacy Technician to support the Medication Safety Pharmacist in promoting and improving medication safety throughout the Trust. The post holder should be ready for a new challenge, show initiative in supporting service improvements, be a team player and have good problem solving skills.
    Work in collaboration with other healthcare professionals to improve reporting of, and learning from, medication incidents in the Trust.
    Support the dissemination of medication safety communications from NHS Improvement and the MHRA throughout the Trust.
    Support the implementation of NHS Improvement Patient Safety Alerts as required.
    Work with the Medication Safety Pharmacist to implement and monitor action plans to ensure that lessons learnt from medication incidents have been implemented.
    Assist in the co-ordination and implementation of the Trust-wide Patient Safety Alert audit programme.
    Assist the Medication Safety Pharmacist with the preparation and analysis of medication-related incident data from the Trust’s electronic incident reporting system
    Participate in the development and delivery of medicines safety related education and training.
    Contribute to the production of Medicines Safety Bulletins and communications.
    Be responsible for investigating medication incidents as appropriate.
    Work with the appropriate Pharmacy Team Leads to ensure that all pharmacy department medication incidents are investigated.
    Identify trends and develop and implement system changes.
    Provide professional advice/expertise on all matters relating to medicines safety.
    Deputise for the Medication Safety Pharmacist at departmental and divisional meetings as appropriate.
