ABOUT US:
The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) is an independent statutory authority governed by the Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine Act 1985. It is part of the Justice portfolio of the Victorian Government.
VIFM is based at the Coronial Services Centre which also houses the Coroners Court of Victoria. This position sits within Forensic Services which includes the departments of Forensic Pathology, Forensic Sciences and Clinical Forensic Medicine. Forensic Pathology encompasses Human Identification, Forensic Technical Services and Coronial Admissions and Enquiries.
Responsibilities:
ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Medico-legal Executive Assistant provides office administrative support for the Duty Coroner and Pathologists. This position is part of a multidisciplinary team and the Medico-legal Executive Assistant participates in shift work on a seven day a week roster.
SOME OF YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Performing case related data entry, preparing documents, collating information received and create case files for the Coroner and the team on duty, in support of the investigation process.
- Preparing and distributing case lists for daily Duty meetings and providing secretarial support at the meetings including transcription of decisions and outcomes onto the relevant case management systems for the Coroners Court of Victoria (CCOV) and VIFM.
- Managing patient medical records and VIFM records and files.
- Supporting all functions of the CAE, including taking reports of certain deaths, managing telephone enquiries and correspondence as well as undertaking the follow up and collection of additional information.
