Description:
PART-TIME MEMBER OF THE BOARD OF LEGAL AID NSW TO REPRESENT BODIES THAT PROVIDE COMMUNITY LEGAL SERVICES
Under the provisions of the Legal Aid Commission Act 1979, the responsibility for administering the delivery of legal aid throughout NSW is vested in Legal Aid NSW.
The Attorney General is seeking applications from qualified persons for appointment as a part-time member of the Board of Legal Aid NSW for a term up to 26 September 2025.
The NSW Government is committed to providing greater opportunities for the community to participate in its decision making process and supports diversity in appointments to boards and committees. To ensure an equitable representation, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, women, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, young people and people with disabilities are all encouraged to apply. In particular, the Attorney General would strongly encourage and preference applications from suitably qualified and experienced Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people.
To represent bodies, whether incorporated or unincorporated, that provide community legal services: Applicants should be persons with a knowledge of legal aid services and experience in establishing and maintaining bodies providing community legal services. Applicants need not be legally qualified but qualifications in a relevant discipline would be advantageous.
