At DVConnect Mensline, our highly experienced practitioners operate a virtual frontline service for men experiencing violence in their relationships and men who choose to use violence. Reaching out for support is an extremely brave thing to do and our practitioners are there to develop and facilitate individualised pathways for a life free from violence and fear.

About your role as a Mensline Counsellor

As the primary point of contact for perpetrators, victims, referral services and the general public, our Mensline Counsellors conduct comprehensive telephone assessments based the individuals experience and needs. Committed to the caller’s safety and well-being, you will efficient psychological first aid, crisis and evidence-based counselling and appropriate referral pathways. We also conduct outbound calls to referrals received from the Queensland Police and Correctional Services. In contribution to our service delivery, it is imperative that you continuously uphold positive networking and stakeholder engagement with all service providers.

Position requirements

  • Completed tertiary qualification(s) in Psychology, Social Work or similar.
  • 2 years’ experience in social/community services or other human services related field.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the determinants, dynamics and impacts of domestic and family violence and related issues.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Domestic and Family Violence Act 2012, Domestic Violence Orders and Child Protection Act 1999 (or willingness to
  • Exceptional and effective interpersonal, conflict resolution and consultation skills – crisis intervention experience highly regarded.
  • Confident telephone communication skills.
  • Committed to delivering trauma informed and evidence-based support.
  • Paid Blue Card and National Police Check or ability and willingness to obtain.
  • Full rights to work in Australia.
  • Valid ID/driver’s license.
  • Willingness to attend and work on-site.
