MENTAL HEALTH CARER LIVED EXPERIENCE WORKER

Based in Gippsland, Latrobe Regional Health are looking for a Carer Lived Experience worker to join our Bairnsdale Community Mental Health Services on a part time, ongoing basis.
This is a position for a person who has extensive, personal lived experience as a carer and supporter of a person or people who have been diagnosed with a mental illness and who have utilised mental health services in their recovery.
As aCarer Lived Experience Worker, you will provide peer support to other carers, family members, and supporters who have a relative or friend receiving care from Latrobe Regional Health Mental Health Service. You will form mutually supportive and empathetic peer relationships by appropriately and purposefully sharing your own story and understanding of the impacts of mental distress and illness on families and carers. You will use your lived experiences supporting someone through service use and recovery to provide emotional and practical support, making it easier to navigate the mental health system, and inspiring confidence, optimism, and hope in others about the journey of recovery.
