Overview:
Kimley-Horn has an opportunity for a motivated MEP Project Manager/ Senior Design Engineer with a strong healthcare focus (OSHPD/HCAI) to expand our MEP Practice in San Jose, CA!

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and oversee the implementation of MEP systems for civil engineering projects, with a focus on OSHPD/HCAI (Office of Statewide Health Planning and Development) regulations and requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems within overall project requirements, adhering to OSHPD guidelines.
  • Conduct thorough feasibility studies, cost estimates, and technical evaluations for MEP components, considering OSHPD/HCAI specific considerations for healthcare facilities.
  • Create detailed engineering plans, specifications, and drawings for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, ensuring compliance with OSHPD regulations.
  • Coordinate closely with contractors and subcontractors during the construction phase to ensure MEP systems meet OSHPD/HCAI standards and are installed and commissioned according to design specifications.
  • Perform regular site visits to monitor MEP installations, address issues, and provide technical support to construction teams, emphasizing compliance with OSHPD requirements.
  • Stay updated on industry standards, codes, and regulations related to MEP systems and OSHPD to ensure full compliance.
  • Participate actively in project meetings, providing technical expertise and guidance on OSHPD-related aspects to project teams.
  • Review and approve MEP shop drawings and submittals, ensuring they align with OSHPD standards.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency improvement in MEP design and implementation, considering OSHPD requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Plumbing Engineering required.
  • At least 4+ years of proven experience in MEP design and project management within the civil engineering sector, with a focus on OSHPD/HCAI regulated projects.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHPD/HCAI regulations, as well as other relevant codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Proficiency in MEP design software and tools.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E) licensure is strongly preferred.
