As a Metallurgy Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring plant efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting management in implementing and maintaining effective Fatality Prevention Standards.
- Investigating and solving plant incidents.
- Optimizing raw materials preparation processes and operations.
- Controlling total process costs and consumables.
- Maintaining plant safety, health, and environmental (SHE) compliance.
- Developing and implementing plant-specific practices to enhance overall performance.
- Conducting root cause analyses (RCAs) for process and plant deviations.
- Managing capital projects.
- Troubleshooting process and equipment bottlenecks.
Qualifications and experience: To excel in this role, you’ll need:
- A National Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering (NQF6) or NQF 7 Btech.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
- The ability to influence people from diverse disciplines.
- Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Basic financial skills (budget management).
- A solid understanding of safety protocols.
- Knowledge of plant processes.
