As a Metallurgy Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring plant efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting management in implementing and maintaining effective Fatality Prevention Standards.
  • Investigating and solving plant incidents.
  • Optimizing raw materials preparation processes and operations.
  • Controlling total process costs and consumables.
  • Maintaining plant safety, health, and environmental (SHE) compliance.
  • Developing and implementing plant-specific practices to enhance overall performance.
  • Conducting root cause analyses (RCAs) for process and plant deviations.
  • Managing capital projects.
  • Troubleshooting process and equipment bottlenecks.

Qualifications and experience: To excel in this role, you’ll need:

  • A National Diploma in Metallurgical Engineering (NQF6) or NQF 7 Btech.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience.
  • The ability to influence people from diverse disciplines.
  • Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Basic financial skills (budget management).
  • A solid understanding of safety protocols.
  • Knowledge of plant processes.
