JOB DESCRIPTION

Division: Water/Wastewater Treatment and Compliance
Department: Growth and Infrastructure
Initial Reporting Location: Frobisher
Job Status: Limited Positions
Estimated Probable Duration: Seven (7) Months
Affiliation: Outside Unit
Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly
Shift Work Required: Some evenings and weekends may be required
Rate of Pay: $30.77 per hour (Rate in effect April 1, 2024)

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Successful completion of Secondary School (Grade XII) Education.
  • Must have a minimum of two (2) years experience in the maintenance and installation of meters and/or be licensed as a water meter installer.
  • Ability to calibrate measuring chambers and gear trains, on all meters and test within specified regulations.
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills in dealing with the public, staff and outside agencies in a courteous and effective manner.
  • Must be able to effectively complete M.M.M.S. Crew Cards.
  • Excellent use of English; verbally and in writing.
  • Satisfactory health, attendance and former employment history.
  • Provide, at own cost, a Criminal Reference Check.
  • May require the use of a CGS vehicle on CGS business. Must be physically capable of operating a vehicle safely, possess a valid driver’s licence and have an acceptable driving record.
    This job is also being posted as a development opportunity. Should there be no fully qualified candidate for this position, a candidate who can be expected to meet the required qualifications within a reasonable period of time may be considered for this position as a development opportunity.
    Development opportunity rate of pay: $29.23 per hour (Rate in effect April 1, 2024). The successful candidate will be paid at the reduced rate until the minimum qualifications have been met.
